Origins of citizenAID

How did the idea for citizenAID originate?

Our founders, including two military personnel and a former paratrooper, along with myself as a civilian with clinical experience treating injured soldiers from Afghanistan, identified a critical gap in the UK. There was no basic system in place to empower the general public to save lives during mass casualty events like bombings or stabbings.

The Importance of citizenAID

Should everyone invest time in studying citizenAID?

The citizenAID program offers a simple and easy-to-use system. It is essential for individuals to familiarize themselves with the app and the pocket guide. This resource is readily available to everyone.

Why is it important?

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) has proven effectiveness in cardiac arrest situations, enhancing the chances of effective defibrillation when an AED is accessible.
  • The same principle applies to trauma situations, such as bleeding or airway obstructions.
  • These skills are not complex; they are simple and straightforward to learn.

Therefore, it is crucial for individuals to take on public responsibility and allocate time to learn these life-saving skills.

Accessing Training and Resources

The citizenAID app provides comprehensive training, and it is free for users. It is encouraged for individuals to:

  1. Download the app and explore its features before encountering an emergency situation.
  2. Utilize improvised equipment if necessary, as citizenAID emphasizes the importance of resourcefulness in emergencies.
